T he opportunity to further participate in the program will be forfeit ed by candidates who do not study, prepare and expand their knowledge of beekeeping. Those beekeepers who are successful in the NCSBA Master Beekeeper Program are asked to sustain the integrity of the program by helping maintain consistent standards for evaluating future candidates at all levels. Further, successful candidates a re asked to ethically represent the NCSBA MBP as faithful ambassadors of the program while promoting responsible beekeeping and community education.
The N. Master Beekeeper Program was established by Dr. John Ambrose in to improve beekeeping statewide and to provide valuable information to beekeepers and the public through outreach. The SC Master Beekeeping Program is divided into four distinct levels with each one progressively more difficult than the previous level both in terms of knowledge and skill which are determined through a series of written and practical testing.
A key component to the program is the required Public Service of honey bee education to the general public and the beekeeping community. Certified beginning Level Beekeeping Classes are held at the local level across the state throughout the year. For information regarding classes in your area, please contact your Local Beekeeping Association.
All credits are to be submittedprior to testing. The MBP Committee will provide an outline of thefield hive assessment testing to the candidate in advance.

Completed hardcopy portfolios includingsupporting documentation for ALL credits earned should be brought to the testing site atthe time of testing for submission and final review by the MBP committee. Failure tosubmit a completed portfolio prior to testing may result in the postponement of testing.
Successful completion of any testing component written, practical, oral of the requirementsdoes not have to be repeated if the candidate finishes all components within five years from thedeclaration of his or her intent to progress to Master level. Must have held the Master Beekeeper rank for at least 2 years and should have been a beekeeperat least 6 years. These credits must be earned following the completion ofthe Master Level. Must satisfy 5 additional new Core Credits toward your declared major for a total of 8 creditstoward major — 3 credits were completed in the Master Beekeeper level.
Must demonstrate expertise in 8 additional new Minor Credits outside your major for a total of16 minor credits outside major — 3 credits were completed in the Journeyman Level and 5 credits werecompleted in the Master Level. We refer to these as "minor core credits.
Communication SkillsG. Must pass an oral examination. Must complete an approved Research Project. Content may include but is not limited to: identifying pests, parasites, and pathogens; reading pesticide labels and determining which is the safest to use around bees; identifying beekeeping items; examining.
